The war in Ukraine has entered its fifth year with escalating exchanges of fire.

Defence ministers from France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and the United Kingdom gathered in Paris on Monday to coordinate their military response.

French officials confirmed the summit addresses support for Kyiv, European defence capabilities, and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

This meeting follows a similar assembly in Berlin in June, where the five nations pledged continued backing for Ukraine to signal unity to Moscow.

Combat operations intensified on both sides during the diplomatic talks.

Russian strikes on Monday morning injured four people in Zaporizhzhia, according to regional Governor Mykhailo Semikin.

Ukraine's emergency services reported two additional injuries in the Chernihiv region.

Russia's Ministry of Defence stated its forces targeted a power station and warehouse in Kharkiv, a power station in the Khmelnytskyi region, and port infrastructure in Chornomorsk.

The ministry claimed a cargo vessel bound for Odesa was also struck, alleging it served military purposes.

In Russia, a Ukrainian drone attack on Voronezh killed two people and wounded 17.

Regional Governor Alexander Gusev said many casualties were on a commuter train in a left-bank suburb when drone debris struck.

"A significant number of the injured, including two seriously wounded, were on a train that was moving in the left-bank suburb of Voronezh," Gusev said on Telegram. The impact also ignited fires at industrial sites and a residential building, though Gusev noted no major damage to the industrial facilities.
